The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the alleged use of state resources by the NPP flag bearer for his campaign.
The First Deputy General Secretary of the party Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah cited Nana Akufo-Addo’s alleged use of vehicles and other state apparatus of the Ghana Embassy in the United States to run his campaign and fund raising.
Mr. Ankrah told Joy News that the latest reported use of state resource by Nana Addo confirms the NDC’s earlier complaint of abuse of incumbency.
“I am saying that the playing field is not level for all of us. Can you imagine we will go and use state vehicles in Canada and use the hall for fund raising?”
He accuses the media, CHRAJ, religious bodies, and civil society organisations of hypocrisy asking why they were vociferous in their criticism of the NDC and no not heard complaining now.
He said it was possible that state money being used to sponsor some activities of the NPP flag bearer.
Meanwhile CHRAJ says the NDC must lodge a formal complaint to enable the commission investigate the issue.
The acting commissioner of CHRAJ Ms. Anna Bossman says any individual can also lodge a complaint with the commissioner and the matter will be investigated.
