The senior national team the Black Stars trounced their Libyan counterparts at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi by 3 goals to nil.
In a pulsating match reminiscent of the 2006 World Cup, the Stars entertained the packed fans with dazzling moves.
The telepathic play between Laryea Kingston, Sulley Muntari, Junior Mannuel Agogo, and Prince Tagoe was simply superb.
It all started in the twentieth minute when Junior Agogo did a superb job and laid the ball before Prince Tagoe to fetch the opener for the Stars.
The first half ended with the Stars leading by one goal to nil although their performance was not that impressive.
The second half of the game started on a very high tempo.
The Stars played more purposefully and were well coordinated.
Their purposefulness soon paid off.
As if to say that one turn deserves another, quintessential Prince Tagoe set Agogo up with a beautiful in swinger which was headed beautifully into the net.
Goalkeeper Samir Abu was given the painful duty to pick the ball once again from his net.
The Black Stars at this stage had established their dominance in the match with quick passes.
Agogo nearly got the third goal and his second for the Stars but missed narrowly.
Laryea Kingston made it three for the Stars having received a well placed pass from the only local player in the line-up, Harrison Afful.
At this stage the Greens of Libya made threatening moves but none of them yielded any results.
At the end of it all, the Stars proved why they are the top most team in Africa according to the latest FIFA rankings.
The campaign for the 2010 World Cup to be hosted in South Africa has begun on a good note.
The Stars will play their next qualifying game with Lesotho next week.
