The senior national team, the Black Stars today take on their Libyan counterparts in their first 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
The match will be played at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi and will also qualify the team for the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars’ hope to qualify for the 2010 World Cup to be hosted in South Africa-the first African country to host the tournament.
It they qualify it will be the Stars’ second consecutive time of qualifying for the tournament.
The top African team on the latest FIFA ranking are poised to maintain their impressive performance since their first appearance in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
Since then the team has consistently performed well when it matters most.
They took third place in the just ended Ghana 2008, beating a much fancied Ivorian side, the Elephants to a pulsating 4-2.
