A thirty-six-year-old Chinese woman,Yan-Yu-Xia, was allegedly shot to death by a fellow Chinese, Cheng Qin, in Tema yesterday following a misunderstanding between them over business operations.
Cheng and Ms Yan both operate night clubs in the harbour city and according to the police Cheng was angry with Yan because somehow, she had lured his customers to patronise her club.
So at about 11:40 yesterday morning Cheng stormed Yan's residence at Community II, Tema and in the ensuing confrontation, allegedly shot and killed her. He has since been arrested by the police.
Two persons, Han-Dei-Lee, 35, another Chinese businessman, and Raymond Aberinga 25, a Ghanaian khebab seller who had attempted to intervene were allegedly also shot by Cheng.
They were in critical condition at the 37 Military Hospital Intensive Care Unit yesterday. Superintendent of Police Samuel Kofi Tetteh briefing reporters yesterday said police had information about the shooting by Cheng who was said to be threatening other people in the neighbourhood.
When the police got there, they found three persons with gunshot wounds and rushed them to the 37 Military Hospital where Ms Van died on arrival.
Supt Tetteh said Cheng had not yet been interrogated because he cannot speak English. An interpreter will be engaged to help with the investigations, he said.
