Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called on the management of the National Communication Authority (NCA) to check the use of filthy language on some radio stations.
"Our infant democracy, which is fragile, provides freedom of speech and expression, however, some people go too far in the use of language on radio", he said.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said this when Major John R.K. Tandoh (rtd), the Acting Director of NCA, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi at the weekend.
He said the NCA had a huge task of overseeing the security of the nation. "We should bear in mind that good work can bring stability, peace and development to the country".
Major Tandoh said NCA was to spend 10 million dollars to build a Radio Monitoring Station in Kumasi to serve the northern sector and it would take two years to complete.
He said out of the 300 licenses issued for Frequency Modulation (FM) transmission, only 125 were actively operating throughout the country.
Mr Jude Arthur, the Board Chairman of the NCA, later presented a cheque for ¢50 million to the Otumfuo Education Fund.
