The founder of the National Renaissance Party, Mr. Kofi Wayo is attending today’s IPAC meeting from outside the auditorium where the meeting is being held.
Mr Wayo walked out of the last meeting protesting the presence of foreign diplomats in the meeting.
In today’s meeting too, the diplomats are present probably informing Mr. Wayo’s decision to attend the meeting from outside.
The Inter-Party Advisory Committee meetings are held between the Electoral Commission and the various political parties to discuss matters relating to elections.
The main agenda for Friday’s meeting is for the EC to explain the alleged bloating of the voters register in 13 constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, Prof. Atta Mills raised the issue of the bloated register warning he will find it difficult to accept the election results if the register was not cleaned.
The NDC claimed the astronomical increases in voter population in the 13 constituencies were detected in a CD-ROM sourced from the EC.
The issue attracted huge controversy with the EC doubting the authenticity of the figures.
Following intense pressure from all the political parties and civil society, the EC set up an investigative team to look into the allegations.
Friday’s meeting therefore is for the EC to give details of the outcome of the investigations into the matter to try and allay the fears of political parties before the December polls.
