The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Ignatius Baffour- Awuah on Thursday denied claims that the government was developing the Brong part of the region at the expense of the Ahafo part.
He advised the people to consider themselves as one people and forge ahead in unity for the progress of the region.
Mr. Baffour-Awuah was responding to a comment by Mr. Kwame Frimpong, a citizen of the region that the government was insensitive to the plight of the Ahafo side and only Brong part was benefiting from the national cake, at a Peoples' Assembly at Fawohoyeden in Asunafo North District.
The Regional Minister said the government was determined to ensure the total development of the region as was evident by the construction of several roads including the Duayaw-Nkwanta-Tepa-Sunyani roads, all with the aim of integrating the two states.
Mr. Baffour-Awuah warned the people to refrain from trading negative, divisive and inflammatory utterances "as it has the tendency to destabilize the peace in the region".
Nana Boakye Danquah, Chief of Fawohoyeden, called on mobile telecommunication service providers to extend their services to the area to enhance socio-economic activities.
He expressed concern about the high incidence of bushfires in the area and called for sterner measures to prevent the disaster.
Nana Danquah called on the government to enact laws that would allow chiefs to participate in the decision-making process of district assemblies.
