The Board of Directors of Ghana Commercial Bank Limited (GCB) has appointed Mr Samuel Sarpong as the new Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations.
Mr Sarpong, who has since assumed duty, is a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture; the University" of Guelph, Ontario, Canada for his Masters in Agriculture and Wilfrid Laurier University, also in Ontario Canada for his Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
He joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in 1996 playing senior roles in Credit Management including Director, Lending Products. In his nine years stay with CIBC, he worked in three divisions - Retail and Small Business Lending, BizSmart and CIBC Visa.
Until this appointment, Mr Sarpong worked with General Electric Corporation in Canada as Senior Manager and was Risk Leader for Credit cards, Risk Infrastructure/Fraud and Mortgages.
He replaces Mr Roko Frimpong, who was killed by armed men in June 2007.
