President Kufuor has expressed his disappointment at the decision of the NDC minority to boycott Parliamentary proceedings.
In his opening remarks to his address on the State of the Nation to Parliament, he said it was sad that the minority would resort to such an action even when Mr. Dan Abodakpi had not exhausted the appeal process to seek redress.
He therefore asked the boycotting MPs to return to the House to play their roles in upholding the integrity of Parliament.
“I make this appeal in the light of the sincerity with which government is committed to the reconciliation process it has initiated for healing the wounds of the nation and to make for a fresh start.”
The NDC on Tuesday directed its MPs to resort to the boycott in solidarity with their incarcerated colleague Dan Abodakpi, who was jailed 10 years on Monday.
Mr. Abodakpi was found guilty of conspiracy to commit crime, defrauding by false pretences and willfully causing a total loss of ¢2.73 billion to the State.
His party has imputed political motives for his incarceration however, Mr. Osei-Prempeh, deputy Minister of Justice has said the Government had no hand in his trial and that the judiciary operated independently.
