The flag bearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama has hinted he could be the running mate to Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom. He indicated that he did not have any difficulty partnering the flag bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), provided the two parties merged to contest the December polls. Dr. Mahama however noted that there were some difficulties because there had not been a mention of plans to merge with the PNC when the CPP went to congress to elect a flag bearer. “How would the coming together or otherwise occur when their congress did not even discuss the issue?”, he asked. According to him all that was needed for him to accept to be a running mate to Dr. Nduom was an understanding between the two parties. “So far as I am concerned it is not the matter of whether he is number one or I am. It is a matter of understanding between the two parties”, he stressed. According to the Daily Dispatch, Dr. Mahama admits there are perceptions that the Nkrumahist forces are divided, a situation he said had been haunting the parties. On the chances of the PNC, he said the party as compared to other parties performed creditably well in previous elections. Responding to questions on efforts being made to make the PNC attractive, he said he had done his home work well, and that he was now going to make himself available to media more than before. He said consistency was important in politics and claimed credit for being consistent. He appealed to Ghanaians to reject both the NPP and the NDC and vote for the PNC to solve the country’s problems. Source: Daily Dispatch
