President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to address a national parade of security forces and school children at the Independence Square in Accra on Thursday morning as the climax of a week-long celebration of political independence from British Colonial rule.
Government's spokesperson on Social Services, Kofi Amponsah Bediako, has told Joy News that the President will use the occasion to enumerate some of the successes the nation has achieved under his leadership, in the spheres of economic and political stability, improvement in educational infrastructure and in humanitarian services.
The celebrations have already seen flag hoisting ceremonies, Religious prayers for the nation, inter-schools debate and presentation of State awards and scholarships to excelling students across the country.
