A factory that would extract juice from mango and other fruits in the Upper West Region would be opened at Wa in April when electricity would have been connected to the facility.
Materials required for the extension of the electricity have been submitted to the Ministry of Energy for the start of the project, the brain child of the Mayor of the IEPER City Council in Belgium that has Sister City links with the Wa Municipal Assembly.
Mr Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, said this during his maiden address at the ordinary meeting of the assembly on Tuesday.
He said revenue performance for last year fell short of expectation as out of a target of 187,506.00 Ghana Cedis, the assembly collected 139,167.58 Ghana Cedis and called for the evolving of new ways of maximizing internally generated funds.
Touching on the Sixth EU Micro Projects Programme, he suggested that beneficiaries of the projects should be made to sign performance contracts so that no party would have course to renege on its promise in the delivery of services.
This is because communal support expected from the beneficiary communities in some areas had been unsatisfactory as the assembly was always prevailed upon to step in and that had added to the huge burden on it.
Mr Iddrisu Adams, the Presiding Member, congratulated Mr Mohammed and pledged the support and cooperation of the assembly members.
