The Chiefs and people of Basare traditional area in the Zabzugu/Tatale district have commended the government for extending the services of the metro mass transport to the area.
They said the extension of the metro mass transport to the area demonstrated the government's policy of providing essential services to the people in line with its poverty reduction strategy.
The paramount chief of the area Obore Yankosor Gariba II made the commendation during the inaugural ceremony of the Metro Mass Transit Services in Tatale.
He said the bus, which would ply between Tamale and Tatale twice daily had come to solve the transportation problems facing the people.
He assured the management of the transport service that his people would co-operate with the drivers and conductors to take good care of the bus and urged the drivers to always inform the chiefs whenever there was a problem.
He announced the provision of free accommodation for the drivers and conductors of the bus to enable them to feel at home and work well.
In an inaugural speech read on his behalf, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Idris urged the people to take good care of the bus and use it solely for its intended purpose.
He assured the people of government's support in reducing poverty in the area and urged them to cooperate by co-existing peacefully with their neighbours to enable government and other stakeholders to bring more development to the area.
