The renominated Roads Transport Minister, Dr Richard Anane has been warned to prepare before meeting the Appointment Committee of Parliament tomorrow.
A member of the committee, Mr Alban Bagbin gave the warning in a telephone interview with Joy News’ Araba Koomson.
Dr Anane resigned his position as the sector minister in December, 2006 to contest adverse findings against him by the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
The commission found him guilty of conflict of interest and perjury but exonerated him of corruption.
Following the findings, the commission recommended his removal from office but the minister resigned and challenged the findings in court.
The Supreme Court quashed the decision of CHRAJ on the basis of procedural errors.
That paved the way for Dr Anane’s renomination by the president for the position which remained vacant after he resigned.
But Minority Leader Mr Alban Bagbin says the new evidence that emerged in the course of the unfolding events put the minister-designate in a more difficult position than before.
He stated categorically that Dr Anane would be grilled at the Tuesday, February 26, 2008’s vetting than before.
Asked whether the issue of perjury would come at the vetting, the Minority Leader said he would not do the vetting on air.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Information and National Orientation has been defending President Kufuor’s decision to renominate Dr Anane for the job.
A statement signed by the Deputy Minister Mr Frank Agyekum said the President’s decision was born of good sense of judgenment.
