Zaytuna United launched their campaign on return of the Onetouch Premiership on a lukewarm note to be held to a one all drawn game by fellow newly promoted side, Kessben FC at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra on Sunday.
It was the visitors who went up two minutes into the second half courtesy an own goal by a hard -pressed Zaytuna defender, Emmanuel Eyison, before the home side's George Ankamah leveling up three minutes later.
Watched by a sparse crowd, the game started on uninspiring note as both teams struggled to find their feet in the early minutes may be due to the break of the League for the CAN 2008 tournament.
Kessben, however, had the better of the closely fought first half but striker Bismark Idan saw his 11th minute flick missing target narrowly as the brightest chance of the half.
The visitors resumed the second on a purposeful note as they launched several raids into the Zaytuna half.
Their efforts yielded dividends after 120 seconds when a misunderstanding between defender Eyison and goalkeeper Tetteh Lugard, saw the ball bouncing off the former into the yawning net after the latter had failed to make a firm grab of the ball.
Striker Felix Baffoe, who had replaced Sheriff Mohamed before the restart masterminded Zaytuna's quest for the equalizer with several inroads into the Kessben half.
Three minutes later, Ankamah connected home a corner-kick effected by hard working dread-locked midfielder, Daniel Larbi for the much awaited equaliser.
After the equalizer, Kessben had several chances to increase the tally but Ransford Osei of Black Starlets fame and Idan shot wide on several occasions till proceedings was brought to an end.
