The Minority Members of Parliament today, Thursday, February 21, 2008 criticised President Kufuor for deemphasizing the insecurity in the country.
They said the president glossed over security problems in the country in his State of the Nation Address, citing the Bawku and Anlo chieftaincy crises.
The debate, however took a different dimension when the MP for Tamale North, Alhaji Abubakar Sumani said the Dagbon crisis had not engaged government’s attention.
He said five years after the assassination of the Ya Na and forty others at Yendi, the perpetrators of the crime had not been arrested.
The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and MP for Abuakwa, Nana Akufo-Addo rejected the claims, arguing that the Wuako Commission identified the killers who were prosecuted by the state.
The MPs also criticized the president’s handling of the drug menace in the country, accusing him of not dealing decisively with the scourge.
