The first trustee of the Nsawkaw branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) in the Tain District of Brong-Ahafo, Kwame Owusu has appealed to drivers to be extra careful when driving to help curb road accidents.
Mr. Owusu said that the area recorded only two accidents last year which involved two TICO taxicabs and claimed three lives.
He advised drivers against over speeding and unnecessary overtaking, which he said very often caused road accidents.
Mr. Owusu cautioned against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and advised passengers to report drunken drivers to the authorities of the union for the necessary action.
He commended the executive members of the union for their unity and cooperation and thanked drivers who in diverse ways supported the activities of the union.
In a related development, a leading vulcanizer and mechanic at Techiman, Gilbert Okwae has urged drivers to ensure regular checks of their tyre pressure to guard against punctures on the roads.
