A court in Kumasi on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of GHc10, 000 to a driver and his assistant with surety each to be justified for allegedly stealing a taxi cab in Accra and attempting to sell it in Kumasi.
Douglas Amuzu and Kofi Manu pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing and will re-appear before the court on February 29, 2008.
A third suspect, one Kwame, a fetish priest, is at large is being traced by the police.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector C.K Fosu, told the court, presided over by Madam Wilhelmina Hammond, that in the early part of December last year, the police had information that the accused persons were selling a cab with registration number GW 397 Y at Obogu in the Ashanti Region.
He said the police responded and arrested the two, who later mentioned Kwame as an accomplice in their caution statement.
