The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, is in very good health and more than ready to hit the road once the Ghana 2008 football fiesta is over, his campaign office has disclosed. A press release copied to the Daily Graphic, stated that no amount of vile propaganda would shake Prof. Mills' resolve to win overwhelmingly the mandate of the good people of Ghana to restore pride and dignity to the Presidency, give back to the motherland her days of glory and honour, and more important, bring hope to the millions of disenchanted Ghanaians. A statement signed by Mr Koku Anyidoho, who is in charge of communications, said victory beckoned the NDC, and Prof. John Evans Atta Mills was more than ready to win for the party its crown of glory. According to the release, the Office of Prof. Atta Mills was not surprised in the least about the latest attempt to bury the NDC leader alive. "We have never underestimated the extent to which a bunch of desperate politicians will go, especially as they can see the end of their political journey, and so it comes as no surprise to us that an imaginary story about the death of the NDC leader and presidential candidate would be put out," it stated. As already stated by Prof. Atta Mills, moments after he was supposed to have died on Friday, "those who are wishing me dead must be disappointed that I am not dying." The release said "were wishes horses, the NDC leader would have been dead before the December 2006 congress that gave him an overwhelming 81.4 per cent victory margin to lead the party, considering all the stories that were concocted about his health". It said Prof. Atta Mills was not unaware of the fact that the journey to the Presidency was not going to be an easy one, and had certainly braced himself for' the task ahead. There is no easy walk to freedom, and the leader of the NDC knew it for a fact that he would face very high obstacles as he marched to victory. It, however, said Prof. Atta Mills was prepared to overcome any obstacles that would come his way, and now that he had woken up from death, there was no other obstacle that would be too high for him to scale over.
