The Soccer Maestro, Abedi Ayew Pele has called for more support for the less-fortunate in society to enable them develop their God given talents.
He said the youth of today were the leaders of tomorrow and that failing to support them would jeopardize their future.
Abedi Pele made the call at the end of a Four-day Football for Development and Games' Festival at Tema on Saturday.
SOS Villages in Benin, Nigeria and Ghana took part in the festival, which was aimed at using football as a means of building peace and to fight against discrimination, stigmatization and ethnicity, which have potential negative repercussions for society.
It was jointly sponsored by Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, Fan Milk Limited, Play Soccer Ghana, Ice Cool Ghana Limited and Step by Step.
The Soccer Maestro, who is also the Ambassador of SOS Villages in many countries including Ghana, Guinea and Uganda, appealed to the youth to take their lessons seriously to enable them to achieve laurels for themselves and their nations as a whole.
Dr Bella Bello Bitugu, Consultant for 'Football for Peace and Development;' called on the youth to help fight social cankers, which militate against national development.
In the final match, Ghana defeated Benin 3-1 on penalties to win the championship.
