An ardent supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, has accused former President Rawlings of complicity in the ongoing saga regarding the health of the flag bearer of the party, Prof John Evans Atta Mills.
He claims the former president instigated the Lower Manya Krobo MP, Michael Teye Nyaunu, to make the remarks that attracted widespread condemnation from faithfuls of the party.
Mr Nyaunu over the week expressed concern about the health of Prof. Mills and called on the party to organize a national delegates congress to replace him, but Alhaji Bature says that issue was too big for the MP to bear unless he had support from influential people in the party.
According to Alhaji Bature, Mr. Rawlings was behind Wednesday's call by the MP on Prof Mills to step down for the party to elect a healthy candidate, daring him to deny the accusation.
Alhaji Bature, who is also the host of Alhaji & Alhaji, a talk show on Hot FM, claimed the founder NDC had used various means to dislodge the flag bearer since he was elected in December 2006, stressing that he was not surprised that Mr Rawlings was using the Krobo MP to achieve his agenda.
But Alhaji Bature dared the former President to deny his involvement in the MP's comments, and urged him to live above pettiness.
He cautioned Former President Rawlings to desist from meddling in the affairs of the party, lamenting that "It is sad that the party he helped to form would be destroyed by him,".
He said he would prove it in the course of time that the former President was behind the plot to ditch Mills, pointing out that he would not succeed.
Alhaji Bature, however, could not mention the preference of the former President.
