Mrs Betty Mould-Iddrissu, who is Head of the Legal Department at the Commonwealth Secretariat and a former State Attorney in the erstwhile NDC government, , says she will not turn down any call on her to be running mate of NDC flag bearer Prof John Evans Atta Mills.
She said the nation has come far in the practice of democracy and has reached enormous political maturity, a state she said calls for greater participation of women in political matters.
Madam Mould-Iddrissu who was speaking in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday January 30, said the Ghanaian woman today is stronger and more educated and could equally meet the demands of the national task.
Her response follows speculations circulating in the media that she is in the country to engage in discussions with officials of the opposition NDC to be the running mate of Prof. Mills.
The mother of three said she is ever prepared to support any good cause that will enhance the wellbeing of Ghanaians.
Madam Mould-Iddrissu did not come clear on whether the existence of the law on wilfully causing financial loss to the state bred an atmosphere of revenge but advocated strengthening of the country’s judicial structures to ensure fair adjudication for all.
With Ghana’s justice ministry still fused with the office of the attorney general, there have been concerns of possible conflict of interest situations.
On this Madam Mould-Iddrissu suggested a reform of the Constitution on the issue to ensure that the two functions are well separated from each other and appropriately redefined.
