The Custom Exercise and Preventive Service (CEPS) has arrested and seized a Kia Truck with 550 gallons of Family Vegetable Cooking oil at Nanton- Tamale road in the Northern Region.
According to the Officers the products were being smuggled from Togo to the country and CEPS Officials in the region intercepted the goods after a tip-off.
The confiscated products and the truck are currently at the regional office of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for further investigations.
The acting Assistant Commissioner of CEPS at the Tamale sector, David Binyam confirmed the incident to Adom News but refused to give further details.
The Northern part of the country has numerous unapproved border routes which many take advantage of to smuggle goods to the country.
Some Ghanaians smuggle cars from Togo through these unapproved routes to this country to dodge the payment of duties.
