All is set for the commencement of the mega Journey of Love programme, organisers of the event have announced.
The organisers, ‘Give Me Hope Foundation’, a not-for-profit organisation, in collaboration with Micro Watch say the event will come off on April 11.
The highlights of the events, according to them include a free general medical screening, free eye screening, free dental care, and free food for over 3000 children in slums in Accra.
Founder of the Foundation, Wisdom Dordoe said a peace campaign will be organised to project the need for peace ahead of the upcoming 2020 election.
“We will have a health talk on the importance of healthy living and the medical team will counsel as well as refer those who need further care to various health facilities for treatments,” he said.
The journey, Wisdom added will include a music and dance festival for the homeless at Agbogboshie.
The Foundation has also pledged to provide education to numerous children who are out of school for various reasons, especially due to financial constraints.
Give Me Hope Foundation is determined to put smiles on the face of the less privileged in this joyous Easter festive season, restore hopes and inspire young children to greatness.
Wisdom added that there will be many free fun activities like face painting, barbering and lots of foods and drinks to give away.
He also announced the presence of a surprise artist who will shake things up at the event.
“To crown the event, we will have a surprise performance by a popular hiplife artiste,” he said.
As part of its celebrations last year, the foundation undertook several activities, including providing education for 600 children countrywide, saving thirty people from prison, organizing six mentorships programs, and two mega health screening programs and provided petty trading for twenty women on the streets and is still ready to provide more to the less privileged.
The organizers, however, are calling on philanthropists, companies and other well-meaning individuals to contribute to the project by partnering with them and donating clothes, food items, medications, drinks, water, time, etc.
Mr. Dordoe said the foundation is focused on giving back to society “especially the less privileged children in various communities, orphans who do not get the chance to orphanage homes, parents in prison, children on the streets, parents selling on the streets and children out of school,” he said.
