Mr. Osei Yaw Nketiah, alias Dr. Assem Foforo, the famous radio caller, yesterday personally offered his apologies to President John Agyekum Kufuor at his private residence at the Airport Residential Area, The Daily Searchlight has learned.
Assem Foforo, The Daily Searchlight has learned, arrived at the residence of President John Agyekum Kufuor in the company of popular morning show host, Adakabri Frimpong-Manso of Hot FM in Accra, on the sole mission of apologizing to the President over comments that he made against President Kufuor during the last edition of the Peoples Assembly, which came off at Sekondi in the Western region in January this year.
Dr. Assem Foforo had hooted at the President when given a chance to ask a question at the last edition of the Peoples Assembly, a development that most people described as unduly provocation.
When asked why he had offered this apology, Dr. Assem Foforo said that his motivation had come primarily from something President Kufuor did, when the President rang to find out if he had arrived safely in Accra following his much condemned performance at the Peoples Assembly.
“I felt that this singular act was that of a Christian, so I should apologize to the President for what I said and did,” he told this newspaper yesterday.
A source at the meeting, which came off between ten and eleven a.m. yesterday, told this newspaper that at a point Dr. Assem Foforo knelt before the President to offer his fullest apologies, which was accepted in good faith by the President, but who demurred at the kneeling gesture.
“The President is truly a Christian, and I told him that it is my hope that nobody would behave towards the next President of Ghana, be he Atta Mills or whoever, in the way I behaved towards him,” Dr. Assem Foforo told this newspaper.
