Dr Lawrence Tetteh, a renowned evangelist on Sunday called on political and religious leaders and Ghanaians at large to come together and support the Black Stars to achieve victory in their last group match in Accra on Monday.
In an interview with the GNA, Dr Tetteh noted that in every success story there was an element of failure and frustration, therefore, "Ghanaians must not lose sight of that fact, and support the national team towards achieving victory for the whole country".
He said the Black Stars would give off their best if Ghanaians continued to show love for them, moral support, motivation and prayers.
"We should not relent in cheering the Black Stars to victory", he reiterated.
Commenting on the team's performance so far, especially against Namibia, Dr Tetteh said Namibia was not just a team one could easily walk over. "We must bear in mind that the Namibians also qualified to be part of the tournament", he added.
On his take on Asamoah Gyan, he said it was up to the coach to decide, since he knew the technicalities in football better, adding "It was Asamoah Gyan who scored the first goal for Ghana during the 2006 world cup and deserves that credit.”
Dr Tetteh said Ghana had become a respectable country worldwide for being at the forefront of peace in Africa; therefore "It is our responsibility to unite and support our gallant senior national team".
He said it was about time Ghana showcased what God has endowed it to the rest of the world, saying he was optimistic that through this tournament Ghana's name would be remembered always in the world of football and expressed the hope that the Stars won Monday's game.
