Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag bearer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) is calling for a constitutional amendment to bar Members of Parliament (MPs) from holding Ministerial positions.
Dr. Nduom said, if MPs work solely as law makers, they would be more effective.
Speaking to Joy News, he said when he becomes President, that would be his legislative agenda.
He argued that some people enter parliament with the aim of becoming ministers of state and therefore, they work hard to catch the eye of the Executive at the expense of legislative work for which they were elected.
He said the current situation makes MPs ineffective. He further made the point that being an MP and Minister of State are two full-time jobs requiring full concentration.
Dr. Nduom also said he would work to ensure that the Constitution is amended to elect District Chief Executives (DCEs).
