The Interim Upper West Regional Director of Education, Theresa Ninang Sung-Abo has died a day after her appointment, reports say.
Madam Sung-Abo who was asked by Ghana Education Service (GES) on Thursday, February 13 to take over from the interdicted Director, Duncan Nsor, died of an unknown ailment in Accra on Friday, February 14, reports suggest.
JoyNews’ Rafiq Salam spoke to some workers at the GES Regional office on Friday, who said they had yet to receive an official confirmation from the GES headquarters about her death.
“We are working, even though there is no life [Madam Sung-Abo is dead] work must go on, so we are working,” one worker said.
Madam Sung-Abo was due for retirement this year when she was selected as the interim Wa Municipal Education Director.
Mr Nsor was interdicted by GES for misconduct. It is alleged he engaged in acts of corruption and is being investigated.
The allegations include bribery in the appointment of heads of some second-cycle schools in the region, auctioning of a truck belonging to the Wa School for the Deaf, and deducting monies from some allowances due to some teachers.
