A 32 year-old national service person, Emmanuel Osei, a graduate of the Accra polytechnic, has been shot and killed by police in Kumasi.
Osei was chased and gunned down by personnel of the zongo police station on Monday night, after being mistaken for a fleeing suspect, eye witnesses said.
Though details about the incidence remain unclear, sources told joy news that the body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary after been confirmed dead.
Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Director, Inspector Mohammed Chanko has confirmed that the incidence happened when officers at the |Zongo police station were trying to re-arrest an escaping suspect, while the victim got injured in the process.
While the family of Osei is yet to be alerted, investigations have begun to establish whether the deceased was a target or a victim of an accidental shootout.
