Health authorities in Gushegu say one casualty has been recorded in the chieftaincy clashes at Kpatinga, a community in the Northern Region municipality.
The Geshegu Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service, Alhaji A . B Yakubu said the victim, a middle-aged man has been moved from the Kpatinga Health Centre to the Gushegu Municipal Hospital.
He suffered gun shot wounds amid the clashes from rival groups claiming to be rightful leaders of Kpatinga.
The two rival chiefs have reportedly engaged in a gun battle in Kpatinga on Friday.
Both chiefs are holding themselves as the rightful claimants to the Kpatinga skin who have the right to enskin sub-chiefs.
Information reaching JoyNews indicates that several houses have been set ablaze and people are fleeing for safety.
According to a source, a sub-chief died and his funeral started last week and was expected to be completed today.
As part of the tradition, relatives of the deceased sub-chief needed to go to the chief of the area for some rituals to be performed.
Reports said when the family visited the palace of one, the contender who is the reagent of the area instigated the confusion.Latest Stories
