Ghana is poised to host one of Africa’s biggest end of year event, Afro Nation, for the next five years.

This deal was signed in the presence of President Akufo-Addo between the Ghana Tourism Authority and Event Horizon Entertainment Ltd at the ongoing UK-Africa Summit.

Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and cousin of the President, Gabby Otchere-Darko, first broke the news on his social media handle.

He wrote, “this means, investors, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses have at least a five-year investment plan to focus on to exploit well the anticipated annual Christmas traffic.”

The Executive Producer of Afro Nation Ghana, Ruddy Kwakye, told JoyNews that the organisers have seen the impact of holding the event in Ghana which has influenced their decision to extend.

“At the moment they have signed the MoU, however, the team is yet to decide on the finer details including where the event will take place, who and what will join in the festivities,” he stated, Tuesday.

The biggest urban music beach festival took place from Friday, December 27 to Monday, December 30, 2019.

It witnessed massive performances from KiDi, Burna Boy, Davido, WizKid, King Promise, Medikal and many artistes across West Africa.

Just days to the four-day Afro Nation event organisers were hit with series of legal suits after organisers had already made investments and preparations.

The concert, aside from the suits, had its fair share of competition as December 2019 was packed with events, including Afrochella (on December 28) and Detty Rave (on December 27). However, with the influx of foreign nationals, for the Year of Return, Afro Nation was packed with back to back performances from great artistes.
