The first matchday of the Women’s Premier League had a fair share of surprises with Samaria Ladies producing the biggest shock defeating defending champions Hasaacas Ladies.
A total of 23 goals were recorded from seven games with Northern Zone giants, Ampem Darkoa Ladies wasting no time in announcing their intentions for the season with a 5-0 thumping of Ashtown Ladies.
In the Southern Zone, Police Ladies mauled Lady Strikers when they put four past them at the McDan La Town park.
Soccer Intellectuals caused a major upset at the same venue as they narrowly defeated Immigration Ladies 1-0 on Sunday.
Supreme Ladies showed their superiority with Abdul Rahman’s brace giving them a 2-1 win over Prison Ladies.
Pearl Pia Ladies recorded two goals in three minutes to sink Fabulous Ladies 3-0 in their back yard.
Halifax Ladies travelled to Elmina as they managed a 2-2 draw against Sea Lions, Kumasi Sports Academy accomplished a difficult task by holding Northern Ladies to a 1-1 draw on Friday.
Reigning champions Hasaacas Ladies suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Samaria Ladies on Monday to wrap up the first round of interesting results.
Hasaacas Ladies started last year’s NC Special competition in an unconvincing manner. However, the three time champions ended the competition on a rather high note as they clinched the Special competition in July.
Coach Yusif Basigi will be hoping for similar fortunes despite losing their first game against Samaria Ladies.
