The University of Cape Coast (UCC) are in a great position to win the 2020 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games as they sit comfortably at the top of the medal table.
Out of the 11 participating schools, UCC, who emerged winners of 2018 edition have won the highest medals after 10 days of action. The medal table is based on disciplines decided so far which are Athletics, Goalball and Tennis.
UCC are top of the standings with a total of 25 medals; nine gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze. They won 16 of the medals in the Athletics.
They are followed by the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) with 18 medals; 8 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.
University for Development Studies (UDS) sits third with 17 medals, 16 of which were secured in Athletics including the men and women 4x100m gold.
Host school University of Ghana (UG) have won a total of 15 medals and occupy the fourth position.
The other schools captured on the medal table are Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) with a medal each.
University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) University of Professional Studies (UPSA),University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS), debutants Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) have all won nothing yet.
Eight disciplines remain for schools to capture medals. The disciplines include Handball, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Basketball and Netball.
The games will end on January 19, 2020.
