Alhaji, Eesah A. Tetteh, Accra Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), on Friday stated that even though the union was not involved in the organization of activities in respect of Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations, it is ever ready to serve the nation where duty calls.
Accordingly, he charged all drivers to help raise the image of the country by maintaining their hospitality and cleanliness during and after the event.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Alhaji Tetteh said, they are one group who meet a lot of people more than any other professionals and that was why they should conduct themselves creditably.
He observed that their attitude would help adjudge the image of the nation and for that reason, they should treat tourists and nations’ delegations with the courtesy they deserved.
Alhaji Tettey also suggested that government should insist on the importation of quality spare parts for vehicles to avoid the spate of lorry accidents in the country with its attendant death tolls.
