The scoreboard read 3-1 at the end.
But lovers of football will look at the scenes from the Accra Sports Stadium and be happy that an air of positivity surrounded the game.
Our correspondent Owuraku Ampofo reckons that by the end of the Friday night tie, the 40,000 capacity venue was about a quarter full.
“The entire VIP side was filled, with no space at all. Large sections of the popular stand had good numbers,” reports Bill Eshun, who was also at the game.
In the end, the football was great. Kotoko maintained their 100% record in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season after producing a comeback to win 3-1. The Porcupine Warriors recovered from a goal down with Emmanuel Gyamfi bagging a brace. READ the match report here.
The hype about the Legon Cities vs Kotoko game was encapsulated on Twitter with topics surrounding the game appearing on the top trends.
Some regular Ghana Premier League watchers were there, but the eye-catching bit was that a lot of fans who haven’t been to a local league match in years – or ever – made their way there.
Two hours before the game, the VIP section started filling up.
Before kickoff, these were scenes.
These shots, sent to Joy Sports, from fans, show the healthy numbers that thronged the stadium.
