The Mfantseman West constituency vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Felix Nyarko-Antwi has urged supporters not to see the success of the last delegates’ congress as a forgone victory for the Party ahead of December 2008 general election.
Mr. Nyarko-Antwi said the fact that the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) maintained the 44 per cent of votes it obtained in 2000 general election in the 2004 elections should make the NPP sit up.
Speaking to some supporters at the constituency office of the NPP at Mankessim, Mr. Nyarko-Antwi admonished the supporters to “plunge into action” to canvass votes and not be complacent.
He urged supporters to let the unity and understanding exhibited ahead of the national delegates’ congress to unite them at all levels.
"Our success at the 2008 general election would depend on hard work and unity among the rank and file of our members."
He appealed to the leadership of the NPP not to waste too much time reacting to accusations by opponents "since that could be a ploy by our detractors to distract our attention from our campaign strategy”.
