A Kumasi circuit court has remanded 20 year old butcher into prison custody for allegedly defiling a six year old primary one pupil.
The accused, Kwame Gariba alias “Damloro”, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to re-appear on January 24 2008.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), George Appiah-Sakyi told the court that, the accused was a neighbour to both the victim’s father at Kumasi Race-Course area.
He said on December 17 2007 at about 1430hours, the victim, who was returning from school, met the accused and he gave her some money to go and buy him iced water.
The victim obliged and on her return, he lured her into his room, put her on his laps and sexually assaulted her. He afterwards warned the victim not disclose it or she would die.
The victim fell sick three days after the act and when her mother inspected her genitals, she found sores. When she questioned the victim she told her Damloro was responsible.
ASP Appiah-Sakyi said when the father of the victim confronted the Damloro he admitted the offence and later gave him GH¢ 20 to send the victim to hospital.
In his cautioned statement Damloro admitted giving the money to the father of the victim but denied defiling her.
