Residents of Washingon, New York and Atadeka, all suburbs of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region, are protesting the appalling condition of their roads.
In preparation for their remonstration, the angry residents have blocked roads and are burning tyres along them in frustration.
They are hoping that their protests will move authorities to fix their roads and put an end to their misery.
In spite of the declaration by the government of the year 2020 as the ‘year of roads’, it is apparent that this pledge, made by the Finance Minister has failed to console citizens considering the alarmingly recurrent remonstrations over the last few months.
Over the weekend, the Manhean residents in the Ga West District of the Greater Accra Region staged a protest over the sickening state of their roads promising a “no road, no vote” stance in the 2020 election, another one in many such protests over appaling roads.
