The Propaganda Secretary of the NDC in the Central Regional Mr Allotey Jacobs has questioned the use of state owned security by the flag bearer of the NPP Nana Akufo- Addo.
According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo is an ordinary citizen who has been elected flag bearer of a party; therefore the use motorcades and dispatch riders to precede his convoy is a clear case of an abuse of incumbency and should be condemned.
Mr Allotey who was speaking to the media in Cape Coast claimed the situation had reached a state where the flagbearship of Nana Akufo-Addo is hyped even more than vice President.
He cited a recent visit of Akufo-Addo to the Agbogbloshie market in Accra which the flag bearer did in a convoy of eight vehicles.
“It’s like you are equating him to the vice President and that is wrong,” he said.
Mr. Allotey described the flagbearership status of Nana Akufo-Addo as a God sent gift to the NDC and demanded of the state security to accord all flag bearers state protection if Nana Akufo-Addo will be allowed that privilege.
He further admitted that if Alan Kyeremanteng had won, it would have posed further problems for the NDC in terms of annexing the seat as Alan had attributes that would have made him offer better resistance against Prof Atta Mills.
For the NDC Propaganda Secretary, the country as it stands now does not need a person of the calibre of Nana Akufo-Addo to take over the mantle but rather a peace loving Atta Mills.
