Accra Hearts of Oak ceded their apparent stranglehold on Heart of Lions with a 2:0 defeat at Kpando on Sunday in the Week 9 of the Onetouch Premier League.
Lions, who have always been at the receiving end in league encounters against Hearts since joining the elite division in 2001, scored a goal in each half to maintain second position on the league table behind Asante Kotoko, who also won one-nil against visiting Liberty Professionals at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The foul-strewn match saw former Liberty striker Eric Bekoe score the only goal, while the visitors also had Kofi Nti Boakye, playing in attack, expelled from the game in the second half for apparent unsportsmanlike behaviour.
At the newly commissioned Tamale Sports Stadium, Real Tamale United beat visiting Kessben FC 2:0, while Zaytuna FC and King Faisal played 1:1 at Dansoman, in Accra.
At the Elwak Stadium also in Accra, Great Olympics won their first league game by beating Gamba All Blacks by 2:0, while Berekum Arsenals and Tema Youth played a goalless game at Berekum.
Wa All Stars defeated Sekondi Hasaacas by a lone goal, while on Saturday Real Sportive beat Ashgold by 2:1.
