The outgoing vice chairman of Accra Great Olympics, Mr Humphrey Williams has donated kits worth $6,000 to the club. He also presented a cash bequest of GH¢200 on behalf of his friend, Mr Philip Lartey.
Presenting the items, which included sets of jerseys and other soccer accoutrement to the club at their new training grounds at the Nicolson Stadium in Burma Camp on Friday, Mr Williams said he decided to donate the items to motivate the boys to perform better in the league and to augment the kit position of the club.
The outgoing vice chairman, who tendered his resignation letter to the Board last week said his gesture was also to assure the Olympics Family that his heart was still with the club and he would continue to support Olympics in whatever way he could.
He advised his former colleagues in management positions in the club to work hard to get the club out of its predicament.
Though Great Olympics are sitting at the bottom of the 16 club with only three points, gained from three draws after eight weeks of action, Mr Humphrey believes the time has come for the club to re-enact the magical moments, which made it synonymous with the “Wonder Club” accolade.
“There is no crisis in Olympics and I want to assure the supporters that the wonders associated with the club will be back soon and Olympics will take its rightful place on the league table.
He lauded the Board Chairman, Mr Amarkai Amarteifio for devoting so much time and resources to Great Olympics in his determination to uplift the status of the club from the nadir and place it among the elites of Ghana soccer.
