Three holiday makers including a final year student of Accra Polytechnic died in a car crash involving a salon car they were traveling in and a taxi at Avoeme a suburb of Aflao early on Wednesday.
The victims were said to be returning from a New Year night programme in the salon car when it hit a coconut tree after colliding with the taxi.
The three were identified as Foster Amenuku, said to be a final year accounting student of Accra Polytechnic, Baranabas Afedo, a currency dealer and Simon Agbeko, unemployed.
A fourth person, one Kasim Alidu who was driving the Togolese registered salon car, is on admission at the Ketu District Hospital at Aflao.
The driver of the taxi and a passenger are also on admission at the hospital in critical condition.
A police source at Aflao told the GNA that Alidu and the three deceased persons participated in a night musical programme at a Denu hotel on Tuesday and decided to return to their Aflao home early Wednesday.
The source said on reaching a spot at Avoeme, Aflao, at about 0145 hours, Alidu lost control of the car, veered into the lane of the taxi resulting in the crash.
He said the salon car hit a coconut tree killing the three instantly with the vehicle damaged beyond repairs.
