The National Sports Council (NSC) would team up with the Physical Education Division of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to introduce baseball in schools.
This will help eliminate drug abuse, and other anti-social vices associated with some schools in the country.
Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) said this in an address read on his behalf, when the African Development Foundation (ADF) presented baseball and softball equipment to the Ghana Baseball and Softball Association at Tema on Saturday.
The items, which are worth US$1,000 included baseballs, softballs, bats, baseball bags, crash helmets and T-shirts.
Mr Oduro-Mensah praised the Foundation for their support and the promotion of the sport and assured that the items would be put to good use.
He thanked the United States Embassy for the support they have been offering the association and called on other benevolent organizations to help develop the sport.
Mr George Ntim, President of the ADF, who made the donation on behalf of the Foundation hoped the items would motivate the team to win laurels for the nation.
