Rapper Edem has criticised how Ghanaians are only interested in celebrating their heroes after their demise.
He wants people to be celebrated when they are alive so they feel appreciated but not wait and say good things about them when they are no more.
The ‘Toto’ hitmaker said this in an interview with JoyNews’ MzGee at Obrafour’s ‘Back to Taifa Concert’ organised ahead of his ‘Edem Fest’ scheduled for November 1 at Aborigines Beach Resort, Keta.
“I don’t think they will ever do enough to celebrate anybody until they are dead, that is the Ghana mind-set. We do not expect anything less,” he stated.
The ‘Nyedzilo’ singer justified his submission with examples of personalities he thinks should have been much appreciated than they are.
“It has been the case from Kwame Nkrumah’s time. We don’t celebrate Kwame Nkrumah like South Africans celebrate Mandela. We do not celebrate Rawlings as they do, we do not even celebrate Osibisa like some others celebrate Fela. We do not love our own until they are dead and gone”.
