Reverend E.A. Ayisi, an 80-year old retired Apostolic Church Minister, will on Wednesday January 7, 2007, appear at the Cocoa Affairs Court 5 in Accra to face charges of forgery, impersonation and perjury.
The octogenarian ‘Man-of-God’, a bigamist, is to face the law for his role in several attempts to distribute the property of one of his wives, Madam Ernestina Ayisi who died intestate some three years ago.
Also to be named in the criminal case is Rev. Daniel K. Saforo, another retired pastor of the same church, for the same offences.
According to the story, Rev. Ayisi, in his desperate moves to take over the properties of his late wife, solicited the help of Rev. Sarforo his friend, and with his connivance, they did not only impersonate the head of family in court but forged signatures to that effect as well.
A petition dated October 12, 2006 to the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Unit (PIPS), and copied to the court, indicated among others that “he got his friend Reverend Daniel K. Sarforo, who is not related to the deceased in any way to swear an oath that he was the head of the family of the deceased.”
The petition stated further that Ayisi, in an affidavit, then forged the signature of Saforo, and therefore perjured himself.
“We find it hard to believe that a Reverend Minister would do what he did to obtain Letters of Administration if he did not have a bad motive,” the document noted.
The family of the deceased, according to the document, reported the matter to the Police, upon which Ayisi was arrested.
He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Anti-Robbery Unit of the police, and was granted a ¢3-million bail.
