The family of the late Efua Sutherland has threatened to withdraw the name of the celebrated playwright from the Children’s Park in Accra.
This is in protest to the manner the national family recreational centre has been neglected for decades.
Granddaughter of the late ‘The Marriage of Anansewa’ author, Dede Aba, says the centre has been very poorly run over the years.
She lamented how it has been left to become a threat to the lives of families especially kids.
Aba said it is scary to see kids play on faulty machines knowing they can get hurt at any point in time.
According to her, she gets heartbroken every time she sees the country her grandmother worked hard to serve to leave her legacy in such a sorry state.
She stressed that it is pathetic how successive governments have left the Efua Sutherland children’s park uncared for.
Dele Aba added that her family is considering withdrawing the respected Ghanaian writer’s name from the park if the facility is not put into shape.
In an interview with Adom News, patrons of the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park also complained about the terrible state of the recreational centre.
