Kog Kriationz Network, in collaboration with Eye Foundation America, has provided free eye surgeries for 343 persons to restore their sight.
The initiative, which is supported by Ohenaba Kasempa Enterprise and Friends Eye Centre, is dubbed ‘Avoid blindness elimination project’.
3,089 people were screened in nine basic schools and 16 communities in Upper West, Oti and Greater Accra regions from May to July 2019.
Wa Municipal, Nandom District, Lawra District, Jirapa District and Nadowli-Kaleo District in Upper West, as well as Kadjebi District and Nkwanta District in the Oti Region, benefitted from the exercise.
The eye screening was also conducted in Tema Metropolitan in the Greater Accra Region.
Out of the total number screened, 343 persons were identified as having critical problems that needed surgery.
Diagnosis by doctors led by Dr Seth Wanye revealed that residents were partially and totally impaired due to eye-related challenges such as Cataracts, Pterygiums, Ptoses and other related cases.
Kog Kriationz Network together with its partners provided the surgeries for the patients at no cost.
1260 eye drops were dispensed and 390 eyeglasses were also given out to residents.
CEO of Kog Kriationz Network, Eric Owusu Gyimah, popularly known as Oyokodehye Kofi expressed his gratitude for the help received from partners and promised to continue the exercise every year.
