One of Ghana’s Group opponents at this year’s World Cup in Brazil, the United States of America has begun extensive camping ahead of the tournament which kicks off in six months time.
USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann named a 26-man squad for their first World Cup preparation camp last month.
The camp which began from yesterday will be conducted across two continents. After six days in California, a 23 player group will depart to Brazil from next week January 13 to 25 to give the players and staff a dry run of this summer’s tournament in Brazil.
The team will then return to the U.S. Soccer National Training Center before playing a friendly with Korea Republic on February 1.
Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Saani Daara says the FA is aware of the plans put in place by the Americans and will take advantage of monitoring their training.
“They have an advantage been that the Major League soccer ended in November therefore they have a lot of time on their hands and they have lots of their players plying their trade at home so with their league coming to an end they have a lot of time to go around the World and prepare,” he told Joy sports
“We don’t have that luxury, we would have done same or even more so we just have to look at them and see how they are preparing and take some lessons from them, they will be playing some matches and we will monitor them”.
