Since she came to attention after winning Season 7 of MTN Hitmaker, singer OV has received a lot of criticism for her personality and even how she dresses.
OV likes to dress like a tomboy with boots, baggy jeans and oversized t-shirts staples in her wardrobe while she has cowries in her hair and while people think her brand needs work, she has in an interview with Graphic Showbiz asked critics to leave her alone.
"I am an artiste and we are creative people, I think that should be of importance rather than how I appear. The cowries in my hair are not from outside, they belong to us right here so I represent us, our culture and Africa.
"We should be allowed to do what will make us comfortable and when we are, it reflects in our delivery, as in the songs we churn out," she said.
Commenting on the recent "fire" in the Bhim Nation family involving Stonebwoy, Kelvyn Boy and Blakk Cedi, OV, also known as Okailey Verse, who is signed onto the Burniton Music label, said everything was okay.
"Well, everything is fine with us but if there are issues, we will sit and deal with it as a family," she stated.
OV also disclosed that being on the same label as Stonebwoy was the best decision. "It is the best thing that has ever happened. There is love, respect, growth and all."
On what the future holds for her, she said she was going to blow people's minds soon.
"We are working, and though I usually do not want to say things about the future because anything can happen, I believe what will happen is going to be something else," she said.
Last year, OV beat three other contestants (Awal Mohammed, Amakye and Erza Tamaa) to become the second female to win MTN Hitmaker after Freda Rhymes.
