The Women's Ministry of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church at Alexandria of the Virginia State in the United States of America, on Tuesday presented 2,100 packaged food to the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons.
Reverend Kofi Nyarko, Pastor in-charge of the Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church at Bantama in Kumasi, making the presentation on behalf of the Women's Ministry said, the gesture was to make the inmates feel happy during the Christmas.
He urged philanthropists and organisations to support the needy in society.
Rev Otuo Acheampong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church, appealed to the inmates to change their lifestyles when released from the prison.
Rev Father Martin Padi, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons and Chaplain of the Prisons, who received the food, thanked the Women's Ministry for the gesture.
He urged individuals, Churches and organizations to emulate the Women's Ministry and to complement government's efforts in the maintenance of prison inmates.
